Service guides / Website Design
Compare website design quotes by scope and exclusions as well as the total. Two prices are only comparable when they cover the same result.
Check these cost components
- Page scope and revisions
- Domain and hosting renewals
- Content, integrations and support
Compare first-year and renewal costs
Ask each designer to price the same page list and features. Record the setup fee separately from recurring charges so you can compare the first year with later years.
- Website build: page count, product uploads, mobile layout, copywriting, image preparation and revision rounds.
- Annual costs: domain renewal, hosting, business email and paid plugin or theme licences.
- Ongoing help: updates, backups, restoration, content changes and support response arrangements.
- SEO scope: titles, descriptions, sitemap, Search Console setup and any recurring reporting. Ask what is included in basic SEO.
- Ownership: confirm whose name holds the domain and how you receive administrator access and an export if you move.
Use our published website packages as one concrete proposal to compare. Confirm taxes, exclusions, hosting duration and renewal amounts before paying.
Ask for an itemised proposal
Request the page list, features, content responsibilities, revision allowance and items excluded. Ask whether taxes are included, how long the quote is valid and how extra pages or changes are charged. Confirm the payment stages and the website deliverable due at each stage.
Make a comparison sheet
Use one column per provider and a row for each cost component above. Mark an unclear item as a question rather than treating it as included. Separate optional work from the base scope so a cheaper total does not hide a missing task.
Agree how changes are priced
Ask who may authorise additional work and how it will be recorded before it begins. Keep the accepted quote and written changes together. Clarify the payment stages and the deliverable attached to each stage.
Before accepting
A brochure website and an online shop need different content, integrations and launch checks. If the proposals describe different approaches, ask each provider to explain why. Choose on the basis of a scope you understand and can check, rather than a headline price alone. No standard price is assumed by this guide; request a quote for your actual job.
Find a provider in South Africa
Browse website design listings and confirm the provider serves your location. Availability varies by area; this guide does not imply that every city has a listed provider.
